Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff

Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a look out perched on Puff's gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came
Pirate ships would lower their flags when Puff called out his name,

돛에 바람을 가득 싣고 둘은 함께 배를 저어갔어요
재키는 퍼프의 꼬리에 앉아 망을 보았어요
그들이 가는 곳마다 고귀한 왕과 왕자들은 머리를 숙였지요
퍼프가 이름을 소리쳐 부르면 해적선도 깃발을 내렸어요

One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar

용은 영원히 살 수 있지만 꼬마소년은 그렇지 않았어요
색칠된 날개와 거인 반지는 다른 장난감들에게 자리를 비켜 주었지요
어둑한 밤 그 일이 벌어졌고, 재키 페이퍼는 더 이상 오지 않았죠
그리고 힘쎈 용 퍼프는 그의 거침없는 울음을 그쳤지요

His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puffno longer went to play along the cherry lane
Without his life-long friend Puff could not be brave
So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave

그의 머리는 슬픔으로 인해 떨궈졌고, 푸른 비늘은 비처럼 떨어졌어요
퍼프는 더 이상 체리나무 오솔길을 놀러가지 않았어요
평생을 함께 했던 친구 없이는 퍼프는 용감할 수가 없으니까요
그래서 힘쎈 용 퍼프는 슬픔에 잠겨 그의 동굴로 돌아갔어요
